A little history of Vel’ d’Hiv’

This tragic day that led many Jews to their death was called the Vel' d'Hiv which is also known as Rafle du Vélodrome d'Hiver. The French police came around and arrested Jews in almost every neighborhood in Paris. Approximately 13,125 Jews were arrested that night and many were taken to horrible concentration camps such as Drancy or Auschwitz, where most were exterminated. After the war was over, the French president, Jacques Chirac apologized for the horrible actions that were done to the Jews. However, it has never been forgotten.
